the story behind : the food

Verna: It was time for the bridal party to go through the buffet line and I was searching for an opportunity to tell that story in a new and unique way. The chef who was carving the beef told me the best view was to stand at the head of the table and get the long shot down the table of all the hands putting food on plates.

Snap, snap. Nothing compelling there.

I became captivated as a beam of low evening light began streaming through the windows of the venue and noticed wispy tendrils of steam rising from the food as the groom was pouring hot gravy over his potatoes. My heart leapt as I positioned myself to get the best definition between the light and dark.

Huy: Maybe we were just hungry when we first saw this image at the photo competition judging at the recent Foundation Conference but it jumped off the screen.  Fantastic use of natural light to enhance an otherwise mundane subject.

Britt: Great seeing by our very own Verna.   And great way to make a steamy photo in the buffet line, which would look right at home in the pages of  Bon Appetit.
